I'm beginning to notice that I am not a person who can be content in one place for too long.
Maybe it's this weather. Indiana has been encased in a less than romantic and entirely non-Narnian arctic landscape. No charming lampposts, no cheery fauns to offer you tea, no beavers to act as the poster children for impeccable hospitality. Just snow--cold, white, and highly unpleasant. And the occasional strip of ice that ceases to catch your eye, causing you to end up looking like a rather tragic specimen of a figure skater wannabe.
But at the same time, I cannot go for long periods of time without the comforts of my home. It's quite a deplorable mindset for one to have; feeling the need to constantly go but never quite wanting to leave.
Of course, I do plan on leaving someday. Indiana has served well as my home for these past however many years, but I'm such a curious person; curious and aching to feel the rush and magic of other cultures. Or, at least, running slightly amok in the States until marriage and money say that it's okay to finally find comforts in another land.
As of now, my dearest friends and I are making plans to go on a cross-country tour of the USA. I've only been to 9 other states, and, for a person so set on visiting as many places as possible, that number simply will not do. So to fix that, we (being my friends and I) have mapped out where we plan to go on a trip across the States in about 2 years (we've made 2 years the goal so that we can save for the necessary costs). While most people I know will be in college, I will not be (I'll save that story for another post), and therefore I plan to use my out-of-school-but-not-married-yet years to do a bit of travelling.
Outside of our friendly little road trip though, I plan on visiting quite a few non-American places as well; Cape Town, South Africa, Eguisheim, France, London, England, and a few of the major cities in New Zealand are at the top of my list. I do hope to live in Australia someday though, in either Brisbane or Sydney.
Adventures. Oh, how I look forward to them.
Until next time,
Kennedi
